In this country, we are eager to talk and write about the negatives, we rarely speak about good deeds.

While growing up some of us heard plenty of things about the former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, so many unprintable names they christened him, behind his back anyway, but my encounter with him was a different one, and it erased totally the ill-spread news about his person.

I will just focus on the event of my rescue, and leave the story of how our paths crossed till another day.

It was on May 11, 2011, there was a need to lay off some staff members at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, then it was still a project site not fully operational.

It was discovered that the monthly salary budget has skyrocketed and something drastic must be done to avoid financial draught.

So all workers were made to assemble at the Christ the Glorious King Chapel where the exercise to know who does what in OOPL will take place.

Let me state here that, we have over 200 workforces gathered on this fateful day, each person was standing one after the other, telling what they do and where they are operating from.

Over 100 staff had done their introduction and had been asked to go and as what they employed them for has not fully commenced being a project site.

When it got to my turn and I stoop up, I introduced myself, I was attached to the museum department of the organization, working directly under Sir Martin's Akanbiemu, the Resident Curator alongside with Mr. Elgartin Ehinofo.

It is not an act of boasting that yours truly was nicknamed the Encyclopedia of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library due to my humble versatility and ability to provide artifact numbers and descriptions extempore.

The name which was given to me by one of the best Curators in Nigeria, Sir Martin's Oguntayo Akanbiemu FCAI.

While still standing introducing myself and giving my job description, Baba Obasanjo echoed in his usual humorous tone, 'I will not sack You'.

Truly I won't be too full of myself to think that I was spared because of my dexterity, but I found favour in the sight of God using the Chief Promoter to hurriedly rescued me from Tsunami which could have drowned me in the flood of joblessness.

If Baba Obasanjo had not rescued me that fateful day, my two years of meritorious service would have gone under the drain, and I would have been forced to start combing the nooks and corners of the state in search of job opportunities.

Baba this is my simplest way of saying thank you and happy birthday to you, the Lord will increase your peace in Jesus name.
