Ogun PDP chieftain institutes radio drama to fight electoral violence

A socio-political group, Otunba Segun Showunmi Political Movement has packaged a 15-minute radio drama designed to promote voters education and curb elctoral malpractices and violence

The group being spearheaded by Showunmi, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, Ogun State, in a statement on Thursday, said that the thought-provoking docu-drama seeks to change people's perceptions in  areas such as procurement of votes, political apathy and other social vices in the society.

The creative content is said to be born out of a great desire to deepen participatory democracy and sincere service delivery.

The Docudrama which x-rayed a town called Jangbalajugbu indirectly pictured the abnormalities in Nigeria emphasizing the need to cultivate the right attitude towards the
development of the country. 

The statement said "The drama has been scheduled for airing on Fresh Fm Abeokuta this quarter, three times a week (between (July–September, 2024), 

"The pilot episode slated to kick-start this July is packaged in three different languages, English, Pidgin and Yoruba, further productions will be done in other languages like Igbo, Hausa Fulfude.The content will be aired on one Radio station per state as time goes on.

"We implore the public to tune in every Thursday for the Yoruba version by 7:45pm, the English version will come up on Friday same time, while the pidgin version will be aired on Saturday.

The group said this is not the first time Showunmi will be consciously pushing for improving  the behavioural patterns in the society saying that this radio drama is sequel to 5 minute talk on radio tagged "Kulumbuyeye'' packaged towards 2023 elections with the sole aim of restoring lost virtues in Nigerians, especially the youths.

 The group said that Showunmi will continually throw his weight behind creative contents to that will always help the country to get better.
